Card Tutorial: Mother's Day Card

Have you started thinking about your mother yet? Well, of course you think about your mother. What I mean to say is, have you begun thinking of what you're going to give her (or do for her) on Mother's Day? I've already decided to send a special card, and thought I'd share it with you.
This is an easel card, finished dimensions are 7" x 5"

How to make the Father's Day version:

Materials and supplies:
1 piece of cardstock 7" x 9-3/4", scored at 5" and 7-1/2 inches (base and card inside)
1 piece of cardstock 7" x 5" (card front)
1 piece of cardstock 9" x 3-1/2" (pleated accent in center of front)
1 piece of ribbon or rick rack 8" long
2 pieces of border 7" long
1 piece of cardstock 7" x 1-1/2"
1 flower or other accent (I used a tassel in the one I'm demonstrating)
1 piece of ribbon 11" long
2 round accents
1 monogrammed letter (I used F for father in the one I'm demonstrating)
Double-sided tape
Embellishment glue

Step One:
Score the 9" x 3-1/2" piece of paper at 3-1/2",  4-1/4" and 5". Turn it over and score at 3-3/8" and 4-5/8". You now have 3 valley folds and 2 mountain folds. Fold where scored to form your pleats. Lightly mark with pencil on the card front where you want the pleated center piece to be. Don't adhere yet.

Step Two
Adhere ribbon or lace along the mark so that it will be behind the panel. Adhere panel to the front of the card. (This rick rack is narrow, so I decided not to put it behind the center panel.)

Step Three
Adhere the monogram to the right of the pleats.

Step Four
Adhere elements to lower right corner of the central panel.
Step Five
Adhere the card front to the zig-zag part of the card's base.

Step Six
Adhere borders to bottom front of card base. This will allow your card to stand up instead of flattening out.
Step Seven
Adhere the embellishment to the front left of the card.

And there you have it! Mother's Day, Father's Day, birthday, whatever the occasion, this is a great card design to use!

Hope that you enjoy making new cards with this folding technique. I'd love to see what you come up with!

Free tutorial, Papercraft Fun!

Make a heart-shaped paper wreath with this simple tutorial. It's amazing how such a little bit of paper and glue can make such a pretty wreath! So, let's get started.
Step One: Gather your supplies and materials.
You'll need a lot of paper circles in several sizes; paper leaves in several sizes; a heart-shaped wreath form; pen; glue gun and glue.

Step Two: Draw vein lines on the leaves and spirals on the circles. Don't worry about being neat. They have more character when they are flawed.

Step Three: Glue the leaves down first so they peek out from behind the flowers.

Step Four: Continue gluing the flowers down, working an inch or so at a time and stacking small paper flowers on top of large ones.

And Voila! A beautiful paper flower wreath in the shape of a heart, because any day is good to give a gift of love! Click here for a pdf of this tutorial.

Supernatural - Free Scrapbook Papers

I know it's not Hallowe'en, but because it's nearly Mardi Gras, I'm bringing you some background papers called "Supernatural." After all, isn't this festival filled with revelers and demons? (Don't worry, I'm not calling you a demon!) Some very weird things occur during Mardi Gras. Maybe it's because of where it's held, and the Creole witchcraft that originates there. Anyway, here ya go! (There's a bonus inside!) Don't do anything illegal or immoral and you can do as you please with these images. CU Ok, too! Click on image to download.
