Since we moved back to the States from the mission field in the former USSR, my husband and I have found all our "family traditions" superseded by our children's new traditions in their own families. At first, it was difficult for me, even though many of the things we did here hadn't been done in most of the seven years we were abroad. So we've had to begin new traditions. We visit the children and grandchildren on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day, and then we celebrate our own Christmas together on Epiphany, the day when the wise men visited the infant Christ child, on January 7. That puts us in line with the Orthodox church in Russia. Change is good.... or so they tell me. I am nostalgic for our busy, noisy Christmases when our five children were small.
The three kings traveled a great distance to bring gifts to Jesus. This is my Epiphany gift to you. Would you return the favor by leaving a comment? Thank you so much... and merry Christmas!
