Organization idea for scrappers and a freebie

If you're anything like me, you probably have a multitude of freebies that you've downloaded, not to mention the kits you've purchased or designed. And then when you start doing a layout, suddenly you can't remember where a particular paper is, or what you have that will go with your paper when you find it. It can be more than a little frustrating.

Here's what I do: As I download and unzip a freebie, I find the preview and extract it from the folder and place it in a folder marked "Previews." In that folder are previews from all the kits I have, so I can quickly scan through them to find what I need or to see what I have.

Designers, you can make it a lot easier, too. Always include a preview of what exactly you're including in the kit, or if it's just a single element, a preview of just that. To put a preview that shows the entire kit when I only get the element confuses the issue. I appreciate the previews of the entire kit, and it helps me decide what I want to buy, but it doesn't help if I think I have everything in the kit but don't. Does that make sense?

And personally, I like it best when previews, tous, credits, coupons, blinkies and banners are all included in a separate folder. Then I know exactly where to find what I'm looking for, instead of sifting through all the papers and elements in the kit to find the one marked "preview" (if, indeed, it is marked). It also helps get people into that folder, where they can read your tous and credits.

Anyway, I hope this little suggestion will offer you a way to organize that will make it much easier to use the fabulous freebies and purchases— or your own designs— that you have accumulated.

Now here's a paperkit for you that's rather big: 188MB. If that's too large for you, let me know and I'll send you links to download it in smaller chunks. Click on the preview to download from DropBox. Commercial Use is Okay!  Enjoy!
